HELLO AND WELCOME!

Hey there, my name’s Melissa, but you can call me Mel. I’m 31 years old and live in Sydney, Australia. After what you would call an incredibly long ‘hiatus’, I am back and incredibly motivated to get started on a brand new blog. Originally I was known a Love Always, Mel, but found that the pressure to write without a niche became far too much for me… so I did what all great bloggers do, and I quit.

In case you thought I was serious, I was only joking. That was a joke. It may not have been a good one, but I tried. In case it hasn’t shone through yet, I’m a tad sarcastic, but you’ll come to realise that as we journey onwards.

I hear some of you asking; “Why did I decide to come back to blogging?”. That’s easy. I love to write. There’s just something about writing that I am, and have always been drawn to. Not only that, but I feel like I have a little more purpose now than I did when I first started out. You see, since disappearing however many years ago, there have been some major changes in my life. Most notably, I’ve married my best friend (great news). On the not so wonderful, far less fascinating side of things, I was diagnosed with a rather debilitating and underestimated medical condition known as PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome). Since my diagnosis, I’ve struggled to come to terms with the idea that I may be infertile, and have felt incredibly unsupported by everyone around me – medical professionals, friends and family. What makes it hard is that people don’t really know what PCOS is, let alone how to support someone with it. Queue ‘She Struggles’. When I toyed around with names for this blog, I wanted something that resonated not only with me personally, but also with others. A place where we, as a female collective, could come together to support one another, through our daily struggles, but also our victories, however big or small. We must always remember, that no two struggles for men or women are the same. I guess what I’m trying to say is that the name of blog does not only elude to my personal struggles in life, but also prefaces the fact that women struggle with their lives on a daily basis. Whether we’re dealing with Mental Health, Self Esteem Issues, Career problems, family problems and so on and so forth, we all struggle with something. My blog aims to document all of the aforementioned, as well as ways to help overcome them. Whether I introduce you to a new cookie recipe, book, product or lifestyle change, I want to demonstrate both the good and the bad of being a woman. Heck, if I can encourage a smile, that’s a win for me.

Oh, I forgot to mention that amidst all the ‘serious’ stuff, there’ll be sprinklings of other things too. For example, it’s likely you’ll see reviews, hauls, recipes, different kinds of inspirational posts, favourites and so much more. I guess that’s why I’d categorise this blog as a ‘lifestyle’ blog. Mum, am I doing this right? *scratches head*

I’m going to stop talking typing now, because I always find that the more I type, the worse and less clear I get. So, yeah… let’s leave it here! I look forward to chatting with you all soon. Until then, stay strong.
